The Our Craft handmade showcase is a visual directory designed to represent how wonderful handmade really is. We therefore ask those who wish to participate in the showcase (really nicely) to adhere to the following guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

Handmade Only
This may sound pretty obvious but unfortunately not all seem to understand the purpose of a handmade showcase that showcases handmade creations… so here it is.
Our Craft is also a decent and clean, family orientated website and therefore will not showcase anything that falls outstide of this rule.

Images
It is widely believed that good quality photos really help to make your items more desirable, especially when selling online. Please bare this in mind when submitting a creation to the showcase. If it doesn’t get listed, this is generally the reason why.

Websites
If your online shop has just 7 items for sale, for only 7 weeks of the year, this isn’t the right place for you. We want our visitors to have confidence in the artists and designers that we showcase.

Quality, Not Quantity!
Please refrain from spamming the showcase with all your fabulous new handmade creations. Choose your favourite one and submit that, leave it a few days and then come back and submit another. This gives everybody a fair chance to be seen in the showcase.

Step 1 – Selecting an image

There are 2 ways of selecting an image for your item. You can either upload it directly from your computer by browsing for the picture file:

Or you can right-click the image from your website and select ‘copy image location’. As long as the file ends in either .jpg, .gif or .png and not .php or .html it will be accepted:

Step 2 – Entering a caption

This is the title of the item you would like to showcase. Please do not enter a description, price or any sales text for the caption otherwise it will be deleted:

Step 3 – Linking to your online shop

We will link both your item image and caption to your main online shop. It is important to link to your main website address as opposed to any other page on your site as these have a tendancy to change and the link will become broken. These and dead websites are removed from the showcase. For example: http://www.indiehandmade.co.uk, not http://www.indiehandmade.co.uk/ih-necklaces/purple-rose-vintage-bronze-cameo-necklace. Hit ‘submit’ and hey presto!
